Pre-filtration is the first step in the filtration process where the job of the pre-filters/dust mesh is to capture larger particulate. It prevents debris getting into the main filter, and thus increases main filter shelf life.

High-efficiency particulate arrestance (HEPA), also sometimes called high-efficiency particulate arresting or high-efficiency particulate air, is a type of Air Filter. Filters meeting the HEPA standard have many applications, including use in medical facilities, automobiles, aircraft and homes.

    • The filter must satisfy certain standards of efficiency such as those set by the filtration industry. To qualify as HEPA by US government standards, an air filter must remove (from the air that passes through) 99.97% of particles that have a size of 0.3 µm.
    • HEPA filters are composed of a mat of randomly arranged fibres. The fibres are typically composed of fiber glass and possess diameters between 0.5 and 2.0 µm.

Activated carbon has special properties that allow it to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs), odours, and other gaseous pollutants from the air. It accomplishes this in a way that is different from other air purifiers like HEPA that only filter particle pollution from the air. Carbon air filters trap gas molecules on a bed of charcoal.

Carbon air filters are the filters most commonly used to remove gases. They are designed to filter gases through a bed of activated carbon (also called activated charcoal) and are usually used to combat volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released from common household products. They are also often used to remove odours from the air, such as the smell of tobacco smoke. They cannot remove fine particles like mold, dust, or pollen from the air.

The activated carbon present in this filter absorbs the fragrance and slowly releases the pleasant odour in surroundings. This filter can improve indoor air quality, it also helps in reducing the effect of hazardous gases, volatile organic compounds as well.
We have developed an activated charcoal-based composition which would act as an ammonia/ bad odour absorbent, deodorizer and has antibacterial properties. It is a replacement of commonly used naphthalene balls which neither absorb the free ammonia of urine nor kill bacteria.
ECP introduces a “MICROWAVE-DEO” in form of a filter with deodorizing properties. The MICROWAVE-DEO filter is a unit to be installed inside the microwave oven which is treated with polymeric aqueous slurry of minerals. It possesses different properties like VOC absorption, moisture absorption and acts as an antibacterial. This filter keeps safe and hygienic environment of a microwave for the longer time.
It is a green chemistry-based filter which could be customized and installed in refrigerator. It acts as an ethylene absorber, antibacterial, antioxidant.
